Fed: No road deaths reported for Boxing Day
SYDNEY, Dec 27 AAP - Boxing Day appears to have been the first fatality-free day on
Australia's roads so far over the holiday period.
There were no reports of deaths on the roads yesterday and the national road toll for
the Christmas-New Year period stands at 26.
The most recent death was that of a 78-year-old male passenger hurt on Christmas Eve
when the car he was travelling in rolled at Jerdacuttup in Western Australia.
He died in hospital late on Christmas Day - bringing the state's road toll to two.
The toll in New South Wales stands at 10, with Queensland recording five deaths, along
with Victoria, and the Northern Territory three.
South Australia has one road death while the ACT and Tasmania remain fatality free.
(Eds: National road toll figures are for the period 0001 (AEDT) December 21 to 2359
(AEDT) January 6. Some states and territories have different periods.)
